Dusty Kaleidoscope

After months of discussions and research, Dusty Kaleidoscope decided to embark on a documentary that we knew would be definitively us – a provocative film with content that would challenge our viewers and a stylistic hand that was creative, unconventional and home-spun.

Post-Love is the result; our love-child borne from more than nine months of discussions, brainstorming, research, planning, filming and editing. Visiting the seedy Yangtze cinema, knocking on doors of old one-room flats, brushing up on our rusty dialects, chatting with disenchanted old women, picking up bawdy humour from elderly men, ‘infiltrating’ a karaoke lounge to observe the mannerisms of foreign hostesses—these little vignettes were part and parcel of creating Post-Love.

We may be in our early twenties, but that doesn’t stop us from being deeply emotionally invested in our exploration of elderly love and sexuality. After all, doesn’t everyone fall in love at least one? Lose their virginity at some point in the life? Grow old? Lose their loves?

… Die?
